![]() If I am immersed in a story, it takes me a few minutes to settle in and I don't want to get to the point I am there and then have to stop. But, for me at this point anyways, it works better with some books. I have taken it to heart and do find it valuable. But that it's also important to be able to read in small sips, while waiting on the doctor, while waiting for a meeting to start, etc. I think Stephen King referred to it as the "long drink or the small sip" that it's important to be able to sit down and read for a long stretch. But I wanted add that several authors who also read a lot have said many times that it is valuable to be able to do both. Hopefully this strategy can help me get back into reading and make it a long lasting habit :)įor me, "reading before bed for a bit" is usually an hour, lol. This will also help me work my willpower to read even when I don’t really feel like it. Plus when I do go to bed I’ll fall asleep quicker. I can always “make” time by carving out 15 minutes from my sleep. It’s like this duality where I say I love reading but at the same time I hate sitting down and reading.Īnd to top it off I feel so guilty for buying these books and wanting to read them so bad, but all they’re doing is collecting dust on my bookshelf.ĮDIT: Thank you for all the replies!
